How an employee contributed cookbook got fancy!

I have always wanted to design a cookbook. So when MEG Energy came to me with a powerpoint presentation of recipes and iphone pictures of meals I knew I had my first crack at it. To be clear this was not going to be a hardcover book printed and handed out or sold. This was going to be a PDF sent through email that everyone could share. But none the less I was determined to make it special.
So how do you take low resolution pictures and unformatted text of recipes and make it great? Well, you let your creative juices flow and find solutions to your problems. Make the pictures small so resolution does not become an issue, pair it with high resolution images for covers and title pages, add some illustration and a little bit of text formatting and font exploration and BAM! You got yourself a cookbook baby.
